Membership Care Committee Annual Report - 2006
Committee Members: Trudy Engel, Sue Gensinger, Velma Teichert, Catherine Wallace
Dini Diskin-Zimmerman, Chair
This past year, the main focus of the committee has been and will continue to be cleaning up the lists of actual members of our church. We are presently computerizing all of the members of our church, and categorizing the members into a number of different lists, such as, members with children,; dates and years that people became members, etc. This list has been the primary task of Sue Gensinger and thanks to her diligence this long desired project is coming to fruition. Thanks to the extra effort and extraordinary love for the members of this church Velma Teichert has been able to work closely with Catherine Wallace to deliver precise information to Sue.
We have instituted putting postcards in the sanctuary so that people can fill out any change of information regarding address, email or whatever they would like us to know and asking that they be put in the green metal basket in the narthex so that we can continuously update our files. This will enable us to more easily take better care of our members, knowing that we have proper information as to how to reach people is critical to member care.
Each week you will delight in learning a small piece of information about a member or program that is going on behind the scenes of our church. It has been our feeling that so much goes on that people are unaware of and being acknowledged is a considerate thing to do. Also, many members are unaware of how much gets done at First Presbyterian for our inside and outside community.
We as a committee will develop suggestions to session for the editing of our rolls. These suggestions are based on many efforts and research done on each member to come up with a reasonable, factual proposal. Some of the methods used ore following the rules of order, for instance: when a member moves and requests off of the active roster, when a member has not been seen or heard from for more than five years, has had a number of written letters and some phone calls from us, we base a decision on the response of lack of. There is much earnest consideration that goes into this process.
Hopefully, this computerized list will help every group and member of our church more easily and effectively operate and communicate.
Thanks to Trudy Engel for making Name Tag Sunday such a success that we think we ill pick another Sunday to repeat our efforts.
