WORSHIP COMMITTEE ANNUAL REPORT-- 2006

Your Worship Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month to plan for regularly scheduled and special worship services throughout the liturgical year.  In support of our Ministry Team, which included our Pastor, his Assistant, and the Director of Music, the committee regularly reviews worship services and opportunities, report to Session and welcomes suggestions form all members of the congregation.

The various responsibilities of the  committee include: scheduling pulpit assistants for all worship services (who, as of this year, may elect to serve from the Sanctuary floor rather than from the pulpit), scheduling communion servers and arranging for guest minister for Sundays when the Pastor is absent.

The committee also helps plan and coordinate special services such as the Baptism of Jesus, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Youth Sunday, Confirmation Sunday, and intergenerational services, as well as the Advent Wreath Lighting Ceremonies, Preparing-The-Presence worship service, and Christmas Eve Services (&, 9, and 11:00PM).  In 2006 5h3 Smithtown Community Thanksgiving Worship SErvice was organized by our Pastor and hosted by our congregation.

Committee representatives are currently serving on the special music committee as it explores the various possibilities and options of organ repair or replacement, as well as on the special committee preparing for the additional monthly Worship Service and Communion to be inaugurated on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 5:00PM.

Striving to be responsive to the needs of our congregation, the worship committee is desirous of providing meaningful opportunities for worship, reflecting our congregation's creativity and reverence.  Your ideas and suggestions are important.  Your active participation is welcomed.
